Memento

Opening titles created for Memento (Christopher Nolan, 2000.) The handwritten titles are influenced by the countless notes the protagonist, an anterograde amnesiac, makes to remember his day to day activities.

Over exposed family photographs, which dramatically fade from title to title, reference the protagonists “blown” memory retention. The song featured, “This Place Was A Shelter” by Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds, provides a striking and unsettled aural backdrop and informs the mood for the film’s unconventional and dramatic narrative structure.
