Graphis New Talent Annual Merit Award, 2016
After deciding to emulate TM covers wherein the letter forms appeared to disintegrate, using water seemed the natural progression. Initially, the plan had been to create letter forms out of bath bomb materials; however, the Univers’ fragility and the crumbly consistency of the material were incompatible. In order to continue with the theme of disintegration, balsa wood was cut using a scroll saw before being submerged in a melted “bath melt,” which was then placed in a refridgerator to set before being cut out and placed in warm water.
